Helen Faber was born Sept. 4, 1912 , near Dumont, Butler County, a daughter of Fred and Martha (Molhoek) Faber and died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at the Liebe Care Center, Greene. She graduated from Dumont Public Schools in 1930 and Hamilton Business College in Mason City in 1931. She married Sherman Maier in 1931. They had three sons, Roger, Bruce and Keith; and an adopted daughter, Sharon who died in infancy. They were later divorced. In 1950 she married Donald Allan. They had one daughter, Shirley. Donald passed away on Dec. 7, 1982. In 1986 Helen was united in marriage to Alfred F. Lampman. He died in 1995. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Keith Maier; one granddaughter, Stacey Givan; two sisters, Mabel Clemons and Kathleen Buss; one brother, Herman Faber; and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Maier. Living family members include her daughter, Shirley (Richard) Derr of Maynard; one son, Roger Maier of Lake Winnebago, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Marlys (Corneal) Miller and Janis Miller, all of Allison; one stepson, Harold Allan of South Carolina; two daughters-in-law, Ella Mae Maier of Paullina and Terry Maier of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Martha Crawford of California, Fay Thyr, Eileen Smith and Ronald Faber, all of Minnesota.
