She passed away at 7 pm on Friday, January 9, 2015. She has been a resident of Medicalodge for 4 years. Congestive Heart failure finally took her life. She was born on September 16, 1915 in rural McCune, KS, the daughter of James M. and Hattie A. (Houseworth) Huff. She spent her childhood living on the farm. She was the last of her generation, outliving all her brothers and sisters. On February 9, 1936, she was united in marriage to Forest Dale Rennie at Osage Church of the Brethren. This union was blessed with six children. She spent her life living in Cherokee County, Kansas. She was a member of Friendship Friends Church in Hallowell, KS. Later in life, she joined First Christian Church in Columbus, KS. Helen lived her life by example of how to be a devoted Christian: she always smiled and was friendly to everyone. Her missionary work was important to her. Helen was a devoted mother to her children and a devoted child of God. Her world was her children. She loved flower gardening, sunsets, music, and crafts. Later in life she began to work outside the home, where she worked at Medicalodge in Columbus in the Dietary Department. She retired in 1975 with 20 years of service. After retirements she once again picked up the paintbrush and creater many paintings for her children. She recveived a blue ribbon for the portraits she created of her mom and dad in their wedding attire at the county fair, and had paintings on display at the Columbus Museum as well as a painting at the Commerce Bank. Helen did get to take a few vacations in her life. She traveled to California, Texas, and Alabama. She was preceded in death by three sons, Dean Rennie, Darol Rennie, Rodney Rennie; son in law Darrell North; her parents, Jim and Hattie (Houseworth) Huff; three brothers, Henry Huff, Ross Huff, and Paul Huff; four sisters, Florence Hartman, Ruth Waugh, Clara Adamson, and Marjorie Huston. Helen is survived by one son, Jack Rennie and wife, Twila; and two daughters, Beverly North, and Raejene North and husband, Garrell; and one daughter-in-law, Rosalie (Epler) Rennie. Her grandkids include Brian North, Kevin Rennie, Kyle Rennie and wife, Leslie, Kregg Rennie and wife, Kanice, Kelli Vanderbeck and husband, Eddi, Kara Parker and husband, Rich, Eric Rennie, Kettrin Stevenson and husband, Gary, and Porchia Holden. Her great-grandkids include Breanna North, Kaitlyn North, Cody Rennie and wife, Kristen, Megan Rennie, Staci Rennie, Kolton Rennie and wife, Jaimie, Katie Rennie of McCune, Alysa Walker, Colter and Garret Stevenson, Alex Vanderbeck and wife, Taylor, Daniel Rennie, and Alexa and Slade Parker. Her great-great-grandkids include Solice Rennie, Karson and Aria Rennie, Hunter Rennie, and she has two great-great grandkids on the way. She will be laid to rest with her sons at McKee Cemetery, Hallowell, KS.
