Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Soldier Lutheran Church at Soldier, with the Rev. Meggan Manlove officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. Helen Caroline was born Dec. 9, 1921 at Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Otto D. and Clara (Bolduan) Goslar. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Charter Oak. Helen attended school at St. John's Lutheran School, Charter Oak and then stayed home to help her parents with the home and also farm until her marriage. Helen and Kenneth A. Torgerson were united in marriage on Jan. 18, 1941, in Onawa. They raised their family and farmed near Soldier until 1960, when they moved into Soldier. Kenneth passed away Oct. 14, 1995. Helen was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, crocheting and quilting. She loved her family and found great joy in giving them her special handwork. Survivors include her children, Jean Schultz of Charter Oak, Phyllis and her husband, Jack Keuter of Creston, Iowa, Janice and her husband, James Treiber of Moorhead, Minn., Dennis and his wife, Mardie Torgerson of Hornick, Iowa, and Julie and her husband, Roger Chase of Dunlap, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma and her husband, James Wallace of Lake View, Iowa, and Geraldine Goslar of Enfield, N.H. and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eldon and Wilfred Goslar; and a sister, Edna Mae Schultz.
