Description	:	Helen Maas Hoff went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 8, 2013. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 14, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hebron, at 4:30 pm Saturday, December 14. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, December 13, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Helen was born September 17, 1926, to Ernest W. and Lena (Caroline Senne) Duckwitz Jr., in Hebron, ND. She graduated from Hebron High School and attended Dickinson State Teachers College. Helen taught country school in Hebron and Taylor. While teaching in Taylor, ND, she stayed with the Clarence Dohrmann family. It is here where she met the love of her life, Tony (Anton) A. Maas. They were married on July 20, 1948, in Miles City, MT. Helen worked at the F.W. Woolworth Co. and the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT, until her children were born. She had three children, Carol born in 1952, Carlton born in 1954, and Curtis born in 1956. Helen and Tony moved to Dickinson, ND, in 1957; Hebron in 1962, where she was employed at Urban's Inc.; and in 1968 they moved to Bismarck, ND, where Helen worked at JC Penney until her retirement on October 8, 1988. Tony passed away on September 26, 1975. She was so excited when Carol got married June 1972, and also when Curtis married his wife, Tina, in July 1978. She was proud to welcome two grandchildren, Carrie and Kory. She loved spending time with them and loved going to their school events and all of their extracurricular activities. She also taught Sunday School at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church while her grandchildren were small. Helen married Walter E. Hoff in Bismarck on October 14, 1988. Walter passed away in 2002. She later welcomed a great-granddaughter, Angela, and enjoyed her times talking, playing, and educating her. Helen was a true Matriarch of her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter were very important. She would always remind everyone that God would always be there for us and to always have faith. She taught everyone patience, perserverence, and how to love unconditionally. Helen is survived by her children, Carol Mitchell and Curtis Maas; her two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Hedwig LaRocque, Carolyn Marthaller and Gertrude Knopp; sisters-in-law, Ethelyn Duckwitz, Ruth Duckwitz Sailer, Amanda Paulson, Clara Baker, Elenora Stengl and Alvina Jungling; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony (Anton) A. Maas; her son, Carlton Dale Maas; her second husband, Walter E. Hoff; her parents, Ernest W. and Lena (Caroline Senne) Duckwitz, Jr.; sisters, Clara Duckwitz and Minnie Skinner Wall; and brothers, Carl, Ernest, Henry, Paul (Hazel), Albert, Harold and George (Elaine) Duckwitz.
