She was born March 26, 1919 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Alfred and Margaret (Cavanaugh) Hammerton. She graduated from Pittsburg State University and attended various art schools. Rennick, 95, of Pittsburg, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital. She was born March 26, 1919 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Alfred and Margaret (Cavanaugh) Hammerton. She graduated from Pittsburg State University and attended various art schools. She moved from the southern states to Pittsburg in 1939. In 1942, she began her professional career at McNally Pittsburg in the engineering department as a detail draftsman, and later became a designer of coal preparation plants. At the same time, she worked as a mechanical illustrator of McNally products and plants. She was appointed Advertising Manager in 1955 and became Manager of Advertising for the company including its major subsidiary, Kennedy Van Saun Corp., in Danville, Pennsylvania in 1961. This assignment also included assisting the corporation’s foreign manufacturing licensees, subsidiaries and agents with their advertising. In 1968, she was invited to membership in Who’s Who in American Advertising. In 1972, she made a trip around the world, including Russia – to visit various licensees, etc to discuss their advertising programs and campaigns. In addition to industrial illustrations, etc, she worked as a fine art-artist in media of oil. She had exhibited in shows throughout the Midwest. Also a master photographer, she won the 1972 first place award of the Society of Technical Communications Art Exhibit – in Industrial Photography in Kansas City, Missouri. On June 19, 1959, she married E. Jay Rennick, who was Vice President for Finance at McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing Corporation. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1983. Membership was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Crestwood Country Club, American Association of University Women, and Beta Sigma Phi. She provided community service, serving on the Board of Trustees Pittsburg State University Foundation, where she had attained Emeritus status, Advisory Board for Pittsburg State University School of Education; Former member of the Advisory Board of Mt. Carmel Home Care Department, the Pittsburg Zoning Commission and the Board of Appeals, Pittsburg Public Library Foundation Board Member. She is survived by a nephew, John Stangland and his wife Deborah, of Moraga, California; and two cousins, Linda and Kathy Tillman of Keizer, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Harry Hammerton and Clarence Hammerton, and a sister, Margaret Hammerton. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday (March 13) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Stroot and Fr. Larry Parker. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. A Liturgical service will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brenner Mortuary. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Thursday to sign the register book. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
