Description	:	The following information was provided by A Webb : The Greenville News (Greenville, SC) Saturday, 29 Dec 1945 Abbeville, Dec 28 - M-Sgt Clyde E Yoder of Abbeville was probably very jubilant yesterday as he boarded the Aircraft Carrier "Wasp" for his return to the States after serving with the armed forces in Europe. He was last on his way home to see his mother, Mrs Helen Edwards Yoder of Abbeville and had sent her a cablegram reporting the beginning of his trip from England. Read More	The following information was provided by A Webb : The Greenville News (Greenville, SC) Saturday, 29 Dec 1945 Abbeville, Dec 28 - M-Sgt Clyde E Yoder of Abbeville was probably very jubilant yesterday as he boarded the Aircraft Carrier "Wasp" for his return to the States after serving with the armed forces in Europe. He was last on his way home to see his mother, Mrs Helen Edwards Yoder of Abbeville and had sent her a cablegram reporting the beginning of his trip from England. But, when Sergeant Yoder steps from the carrier upon arrival in the States, he will have some grim news awaiting him. His mother died today at Memorial Hospital following an illness of only a few days. The cablegram arrived only a few hours before her death. Mrs Yoder was a daughter of the late Capt John G Edwrds and Mrs Janie Bell Edwards, pioneer family of this area, and was the wife of the late Clyde E Yoder. Sergeant Yoder is the only surviving child. Other survivors: 2 sisters, Miss Georgia Edwards and Mrs Nellie Edwards Mills and a nephew, Claud C Gambrell.
