Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll where a rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Friday morning where additional visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Helen Elizabeth Sanders was born on October 8, 1921 in Arcadia, Iowa the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Leiting) Sanders. She grew up on a farm near Maple River and graduated from St. Francis School. Helen married Lawrence Halbur on June 12, 1945 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Maple River. Helen was a homemaker all of her working life. She dedicated her time to caring for her parents and worked for a number of individuals and families in the Halbur and Carroll communities. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, attending daily mass and praying the rosary. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and Altar Society. Survivors include her children: Gary (Jolene), and Janice and friend, Val; her grandchildren: Michele (Brad), Doug and friend, Melony, Kevin (Kris), Brian (Tammy), and Cory (Mary); ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; her sister, Ethel; her brothers: Richard and friend, Sherline and Kenny (Janet); her sister-in-law, Pat and her brother-in-law, Louis; as well as other extended relatives. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence Halbur, in 1951; her son-in-law, Robert Hulsing; her great-grandson, Kyle Pudenz; her sisters: Isabel Henrich, Doris Salisbury, Agnes Halbur, and Elsie Boes; and her brother, Robert Sanders.
