Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF ** Helen Elizabeth (Wood) Ver Steegh was born on Tuesday; February 8, 1921 in Wapello County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Walter A. and Florence (Skirvin) Wood. Helen was united in marriage to Tracy Ver Steegh on Thursday; July 15, 1943. Helen was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Pershing; Marion County, Iowa where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. Helen was a 4-H leader in Appanoose and Marion Counties, Iowa. She belonged to United Methodist Women, Farm Bureau Women and the Breckenridge Society. She was also a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. In her later years Helen enjoyed traveling with family and friends and went on several mission trips in the United States and Latin America. She also went with friends to several Elder Hostels throughout the United States. Helen enjoyed crafting, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She loved spending time with her family, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen Elizabeth (Wood) Ver Steegh, age: 91, passed away on Friday; May 18, 2012 at the Vista Woods Care Center under the care of the staff of Care Initiatives Hospice in Ottumwa; Wapello County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her children: Carolyn (Glen) Cochran of Eagle Grove; Wright County, Iowa; Beverly Ver Steegh of Ottumwa, Iowa and Gary Parcel of El Cajon; San Diego County, California. Her five grandchildren: Darryl (Sheila) Cochran, Dale (Michelle) Cochran, Doug Cochran, Crystal (Ver Steegh) Richards and Cory Ver Steegh. Her nine great grandchildren. Her sisters: Oma Klontz, Janet VanVeen and Margaret Mull. Also last but not least, her sister-in-law: Gracie Wood. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son: David Parcel; her siblings: Pauline Sholes, Marian Paxton, Frances Venator, Ethel Haff Kuhn; James and Victor Wood. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday; May 21, 2012 at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville; Marion County, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday; May 22, 2012 at the Zion United Methodist Church in Pershing, Iowa with the Reverend Vickie Steffes officiating. Interment will be at the Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Iowa. For those desiring, memorial contributions in Helen's honor may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church or to Care Initiatives Hospice.
