Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Reverend Vicki Pedersen will officiate. Casket bearers will be Perry Rhodes, Paul Rhodes, Joe Rhodes II, Peter Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes and Jasen Bender. Honorary bearers will be Joe Ambrogio and Darren Rhodes. Helen was born on November 18, 1912, in Gan Valley, South Dakota, the daughter of Carl and Claira Huckins Gerth. She married Oscar A. Rhodes on April 30, 1932, in Mason City. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, reading, watching soap operas, cooking and baking. She will be deeply missed by her son, Joe Rhodes and wife, Fontelle, of Muscatine; two daughters-in-law, Betty Rhodes of Coal Valley, Illinois, and Dolores Rhodes of Rockford, Illinois, 12 grandchildren; Destany Bender and husband, Jasen, Joe Rhodes II and wife, Molly, Denny Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes and wife, Shiela, Darren Rhodes, Dolly Wilson and husband, Mike, Pam Ambrogio and husband, Joe, Patty Henthorn and husband, Dan, Perry Rhodes and wife, Kathy, Paxton Rhodes and wife, Kelli, Peter Rhodes and wife, Katrina and Paul Rhodes and wife, Kristi; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lola Dodson of Louisiana; and a sister-in-law, Frances Gerth of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; two sons, Howard and Roger Rhodes; two grandchildren, Doug and Derek Rhodes; a brother, George Gerth and two sisters, Edetta Honts and Verna Morris..
