Description	:	Helen Luchsinger, 94, of Columbus, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at her home in Columbus. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Helen Evelyn Luchsinger was born Aug. 15, 1916, at the family home north of Columbus to John and Emma (Logeman) Mohlman. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Helen attended District 80 School and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus. Helen was united in marriage to Frank J. Luchsinger on June 6, 1936, in Avoca, Iowa. Together they farmed north of Columbus until 1972, when they moved to town, where Helen was employed at the Bric-A-Brac Shop until 1987. Community service and volunteering were two of Helen's special passions. She served as bingo caller for the residents at the Golden Livingcenter for many years, and was named that facility's Volunteer of the Year in 1995. Other service recognition given to Helen includes Soroptimist International Woman of Distinction, City of Columbus Citizen Volunteer and Platte County Historical Society Outstanding Service Award. She was a longtime board member at the historical society, where she and Frank spent many hours volunteering. She was a member of Sugar & Spice Club, the Izaac Walton League and the Sprigs and Sprouts Garden Club, where she chaired the highway cleanup program. Helen was also very active in her church, where she served many years as Cradle Roll superintendent, Meal on Wheels coordinator/volunteer, and was a member of Women of ELCA and Love Circle. She loved watching sports and was an avid Lakeview Viking and Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Helen is survived by daughter, Patricia Horn, of Seattle, Wash., granddaughter, Rebecca (Adrian) Lynch, of Shoreline, Wash., great-grandsons, Colin, John, and Ryan Lynch, grandson-in-law, Michael Rountree, of Renton, Wash., great-grandson, Brandon Rountree; daughter, Jo Grotelueschen, of Columbus, grandson, Jason (Beth) Grotelueschen, of Seattle, Wash., great-grandchildren, Payton and Noah Grotelueschen, grandson, Justin (fiancé Gina Hey) Grotelueschen, of New York City, N.Y., granddaughter, Jenna (Matt) Schaecher, of Omaha, granddaughter, Julie Grotelueschen, of Omaha, currently residing in Kisumu, Kenya; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Mohlman; husband, Frank J. Luchsinger; daughter, Carolyn Stuhr; son-in-law, Grant Grotelueschen; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Horn) Rountree; brother, Ed Mohlman; and sisters, Alvina Potter, Anetta Smith and Viola Anderson.
