Helen Faye Waidelich was born August 7, 1922, on the family farm in Floyd County, IA, the daughter of Edwin and Mildred (Waite) Bonzer. She received her education in Nashua graduating from the Nashua High School in 1939. After graduation she attended Hamilton business College. She worked at Solar Aircraft Company in Des Moines where she later met her future husband. On June 7, 1945, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua, she married Loren Watters and they resided in West Des Moines. To this union two children were born. In early 1963, the family moved to St. Paul, MN, until the sudden passing of Loren on February 22, 1964. Helen then moved her family back to Nashua. She worked briefly at the Nashua Community Schools in the dietary department then went to work for the Nashua Equity as a bookkeeper until her retirement in August of 1984. In November of 1974, Helen married George Waidelich. George later died on January 1, 1976. Over the years, Helen enjoyed reading, making many ceramic pieces, painting, quilting, working at church functions and socializing with her friends. She loved playing cards with her brother and later her close friends. She was always a kind and loving person and enjoyed being with her family. She loved her grandchildren most of all. She met her new three week old great-grandson two days before her death. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Bryan) Pieper of Solon, IA; her son, Thomas (Marvlyn) Watters of Waverly; two grandchildren, Sarah (Luke) Leonard of Iowa City, Peter Watters of Berkeley, CA; great-grandson, Alexander Leonard; sister-in-law, Peggy Bonzer of Nashua; four nephews, four nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands; two brothers, Stanley Bonzer, Gordon Bonzer; nephew, Gary Bonzer.
