The daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Gorda) Hook, she was born May 31, 1923, in Ashtabula and was a graduate of Ashtabula High School and had remained a lifelong area resident. Read More	May 31, 2011 Helen Heath Star Beacon JEFFERSON — Helen Hook Heath, age 87, of Lillie Road, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown. The daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Gorda) Hook, she was born May 31, 1923, in Ashtabula and was a graduate of Ashtabula High School and had remained a lifelong area resident. In June of 1944, Helen joined the Women's Army Air Corps – WACS and was stationed in California until she was honorably discharged in 1946, having attained the rank of Corporal. On April 26, 1952, she married Charles Heath and they recently celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage. A member of St. Andrews Church in Sheffield Township, she attended church regularly until her health would no longer allow her to do so. She enjoyed sewing, word search and crossword puzzles. She was very fond of her two dogs, Scrappy and Mitzie. Helen always enjoyed being with her family. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Helen will be missed by her loving husband, Charles and their children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Charles Heath; son, Thomas (Anne) Heath of Jefferson; grandsons, Brock C. and Bryan S. (Vicki) Dobos; great-grandsons, Hunter S. and Mitchel S. Dobos; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two infant children, Shirley and Jerry Heath; her five sisters, Mary Hook, Anna Skully, Margaret Kahalin, Dorothy Lehtinen and Elizabeth Kollmorgan; and her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Hook. Graveside Services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 1st, at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, Carpenter Road, Ashtabula. Full Military Honors will be provided by American Legion, Dewey-Howlett Post #103 of Ashtabula. DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.
