Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2008, at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh with Pastor Duane Dunwoody officiating. Serving as honorary casket bearers are Dan Stokey, Charles Cheney, Conrad Lobner, Harold Giebelhouse, David DeLaet and Bill Hamilton. Visitation will be on Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Giving Bee or the Lewellen Fire Department. Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh is in charge of the arrangements. Helen Irene (Giebelhouse) Eggers was born on July 16, 1927, in Midlothian, Illinois, to Henry Conrad and Ella Emilie Louise (Stelling) Giebelhouse. At the age of ten, the family moved to Globeville, Colorado where she attended school and later worked. She married Una Sammy Eggers on March 14, 1948 and they made their home in the Lewellen Community where farming was their life. Three children were born to this union. Helen's interests were her yard, flowers, and quilting. All the children and grandchildren have a quilt made by her. She enjoyed outdoor Christmas decorating and hoped others enjoyed it as well. She helped the Giving Bee of Lewellen assemble quilts which are given to foster children of the Nebraska Panhandle and to the Alliance Boy's Ranch. Helen is survived by her children, Jerry Eggers and wife Karen, Russel Eggers and wife Julie all of Lewellen and Nancy Davis and husband Gary of Las Vegas, NV; three step-children, Philip Eggers and wife Geraldine of Sun City, AZ, Shirley Hainline and husband Robert of Orangeville, CA, and Julia Lavertu and husband Raymond of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; five grandchildren, Hiedi Eggers, Justin Eggers and wife Kim, Amanda and Travis Eggers and Joshua Davis; twelve step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; thirteen step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson; her brother, Harold Giebelhouse of Sandusky, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; her parents; and three sisters.
