Description	:	DE SMET, SD: Funeral services for Mrs. Helen DeWitt, 82, who died May 4, 1990, in a De Smet nursing home, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the United Methodist Church at De Smet. The Rev. Roger Olness will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Bryant. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 7 in the Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet. Read More	DE SMET, SD: Funeral services for Mrs. Helen DeWitt, 82, who died May 4, 1990, in a De Smet nursing home, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the United Methodist Church at De Smet. The Rev. Roger Olness will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Bryant. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 7 in the Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet. There will be a prayer service in the church basement just prior to the services on Tuesday. Mrs. DeWitt was born June 1, 1907, at Huron to George and Elizabeth (Johnson) Roush. She grew up and attended public school in Huron; attended Huron College. She married Willis C. DeWitt on Feb. 28, 1929, at Woonsocket. The couple lived in Huron, Mason City, Iowa, and Bushnell before moving to Bryant in 1943. Mr. DeWitt died in 1971. In 1972 she moved to Huron and in 1985 she moved to De Smet. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, the Sunshine Extension Club and had attended the United Methodist Church while living at De Smet. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Willis Jr. of Hayti; 7 daughters, Mrs. James (Elnora) Anderson of Rapid City, Mrs. LaVonne Hoyer of Helena, Mont., Mrs. Wesley (LeNora) Robish of De Smet, Mrs. Wanda Lowery of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Richard (Delores) Baier of De Smet, Mrs. Bud (LaMerna) Olson of Eden Prairie, Minn., Mrs. John (Wilma) Ward of Brookings. 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
