She was born on April 2, 1918, in Hopkinton, daughter of Charles and Regina (Wilhelm) Wolf. She married Bernard Westemeier on April 30, 1942, at St. Francis Xavier, Dyersville; he died Feb. 14, 1980. She graduated from St. Francis schools, Dyersville. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Dyersville, Dyersville Sportsman's Association, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, Dyersville, and the Dyersville Historical Society. She was a volunteer at the St. Francis School Hot Lunch Program. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Buddy) Doyle, of Dyersville; a son, Roger (Judy) Westemeier, of Dyersville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemary Wolf, of Dyersville, Betty (John) Wilgenbusch and Dorothy (Alvin) Meyer, both of New Vienna; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita Wolf, of Dubuque, Catherine Wolf, of Farley, Leonard and Virginia Thiel, of Minnetonka, Minn., and Stella Danielson, of Libertyville, Ill. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Randy Westemeier in 1991; a great-granddaughter, Kallie Fowler, in June 2000; a great-grandson, Matthew Then, on Dec. 12, 2000; a sister, Margaret McDermott; and two brothers, Charles and Ivan Wolf. A Helen J. Westemeier Memorial Fund has been established.
