Description	:	GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. — Helen Jean Godberson, 90, of Green Valley, formerly of Gibbon, Neb., died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at home. A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Church in Gibbon. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. Read More	GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. — Helen Jean Godberson, 90, of Green Valley, formerly of Gibbon, Neb., died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at home. A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Church in Gibbon. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. The family will be present 7-9 p.m. Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home-Miller Godberson Chapel in Gibbon. She peacefully accepted her call to come home to the caring arms of her Lord, her late husband, loving son-in-law and many other family and friends. Jean was born on the family farm north of Gibbon on April 27, 1928. She attended country school until eighth grade, then graduated from Gibbon High School with the class of 1945. For many years following high school, Jean worked as an aide for several doctor’s offices in the Kearney/Gibbon area. She later went on to further her education when she attended business school in Lincoln. Jean was united in marriage to J. Miller Godberson of Gibbon on May 1, 1949. The couple owned the Miller and Godberson Mortuary and crematory in Gibbon until moving to Green Valley in 1988. Miller preceded her in death in 1993. Jean stayed in Green Valley, passing away 25 years and five days after her husband. She was a former member of Faith United Church in Gibbon, P.E.O. for 66 years and was a charter member of Chapter H.R., Daughters of the American Revolution-Shelton Chapter, former Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star in Gibbon, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Old Settlers Descendant Founders of Gibbon and many Gibbon bridge clubs. Jean was a friend to all and will be dearly missed. Special acknowledgment of gratitude goes to the hospice team, in-home care givers and longtime family friend, Dr. Curtiss Farrell. Left to cherish her memory are her children, M. Brandt Godberson of Gibbon (passed away Jan. 10, 2019), Robert J. (Pamela) Godberson of Kearney, Neb., and Janell L. Beveridge of Paxton, Neb.; grandchildren, Derek Godberson, Garrett Godberson, Austin (Lindsey) Godberson, Taylor Godberson and Tara Jean (Rodney) Beveridge Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Rowan Ann Godberson and Lincoln Joseph Ramirez; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Miller Godberson; her parents, Albert “Pete” and Gladys Brandt; a brother, Meril Dean Brandt; son-in-law, Joseph “Jody” Beveridge; daughter-in-law, Vikki Godberson; and infant grandson, Jack Godberson.
