Description	:	Helen J. (Mrs. Dwayne) Howson, 84, of Low Moor, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, March 26, 2012 at Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport, Iowa. Mrs. Howson, the former Helen Joan Nielsen was born January 17, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, to Andrew C. and Dorothea C. (Loendorf) Nielsen. She graduated from Clinton High School. (Mrs. Dwayne) Howson, 84, of Low Moor, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, March 26, 2012 at Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport, Iowa. Mrs. Howson, the former Helen Joan Nielsen was born January 17, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, to Andrew C. and Dorothea C. (Loendorf) Nielsen. She graduated from Clinton High School. On August 25, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Dwayne Eugene Howson at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. The couple farmed at Low Moor where Helen was a homemaker, raising their three children. Helen and Dwayne spent over 61 happy years together. Dwayne preceded Helen in death on February 24, 2008. She was a longtime and active member of the United Methodist Church at Low Moor where she served as treasurer. Helen was also an active member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed baking cakes, especially angle-food and cookies as well. Helen loved her family dearly and especially cherished time spent with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are children, Connie Schnoor and her husband, Ken of Long Grove, Iowa, Paul Howson and his wife, Ida of Camanche, Iowa, and Dennis Howson of Cheyenne, Wyoming; grandchildren, Richard (Kathleen) Schnoor, Michael (Candace) Schnoor, Jonathan Howson, Stephen (Dawn) Alm, Jennifer (Paul) Engaldo, Adam (Kim) Schnoor, Jeff (Kelly) Alm, Kristopher Howson, Amy (Nathan) Nissen; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha (Elmer) Ehler of Oakland, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Helen Mae Hofer of Davenport, Jean Doescher of DeWitt, and Janice (Tom) Wiebenga of Clinton; many nieces and nephews. Preceding Helen in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Christine Heilig will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. (Source: Schultz Funeral Home)
