Description	:	Helen L. "Sukey" Rawls was born April 28, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Lind) Rawls. In her early teenage years, she lived at the Lutheran Children's Home in Waverly, Iowa. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1951. During her senior year of high school, she started working at Waverly Telephone Company where she continued working until 1953. Sukey worked... Read More	Helen L. "Sukey" Rawls was born April 28, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Lind) Rawls. In her early teenage years, she lived at the Lutheran Children's Home in Waverly, Iowa. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1951. During her senior year of high school, she started working at Waverly Telephone Company where she continued working until 1953. On October 5, 1952 Sukey was united in marriage to Harry Whitney at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly. Together they were blessed with four children: Terri, Steven, Angela and Cindy. Sukey worked part time at Waverly Publishing Company for about six years, at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake for two years, and then at Buena Vista Care Facility as a Medical Aide until 1988. Sukey and Harry then began managing Farber and Ottoman Funeral Home in Schaller. She also served as a volunteer EMT for the Schaller Ambulance Squad from 1976 to 1982. In her spare time, Sukey loved to spend time scrapbooking with friends, boating, and her two coffee groups at Midnight Sun. She had a collection of bears, and loved penguins. But most important to Sukey was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured the time she spent within her family circle. She loved being with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their activities. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Sukey was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Harold "Harry" L. Whitney; granddaughter, Brandi Jo Vossberg; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Aliyah Tatum; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merwyn and Dorothy Whitney; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Boyd and Edna Mae Glidewell; and brother-in-law, Bob Armagost. Sukey's life will always be loved and cherished by her family which include her children: Terri and husband Curt Rininger of Schaller: Steven and wife Lil Whitney of Virginia Beach, Va.; Angela Whitney of Las Vegas, Nev.; Cindy and husband Ron Reckamp of Schaller, eight grandchildren: Cody Rininger of Sioux City: Shane and wife Laura Whitney of Virginia Beach, Va.: Krysten and husband Tater Tatum of Sac City; Amber and husband Jason Zander of Virginia Beach, Va.; Whitney Rininger of Sioux City: Tanner Rininger of Cedar Rapids; Danielle Reckamp of Omaha, Neb.; and Nicholas Batton of Las Vegas, Nev.; five great-grandchildren: Cole, Avery and Adelyn Rininger, Carys Whitney and Franklin Tatum; sister, Carla Armagost of Ocala, Fla.; half-brother, William Lind; as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives; and a host of friends
