Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 1, at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with Rev. Corey Nelson officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, February 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Helen was born March 9, 1918, in Brisbane, ND, to Felix and Praxada Leintz, the third of nine children. She married the love of her life, Joseph Fergel, on May 31, 1938. They farmed/ranched in Grant County until 1993 when they retired to Bismarck. After 70 years of marriage, Joseph died in 2008. Helen lived at Touchmark for the last five years and loved all of the staff there. Helen was active in church groups both at St. Gertrude's and St. Anne's. She loved to read the Daily Word, pray the rosary and listen to mass on television. Helen was an avid gardener, sharing much of her produce with family and neighbors. She even had her garden at Touchmark at age 95. She enjoyed raising her baby chicks, family picnics, and sewing/quilting for her children and grandchildren. Every grandchild received a beautiful quilt for their graduation. Helen loved to cook and bake and you never left hungry-she made enough for a threshing crew! Kugen, homemade bread and buns were a family favorite. Helen and Joseph even made egg noodles together. After all that gardening and cooking, she would relax with the Lawrence Welk show. Helen is survived by her daughters, Shiela (Abe) Loeb, Gresham, OR, Kathy (Don) Boehm, Mandan, ND, Sadie (Jack) Feist, Mandan, ND, and Linda (John) Haas, Oshkosh, WI; her sons, Francis (Rosie) Fergel, Shields, ND, and Leo (Diane) Fergel, Cheyenne, WY; 19 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Adam and John Leintz; her sisters, Katherine Dressler, Rose Shobe, and Ann Wikenheiser; and her sister-in-law, Janet Leintz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fergel; her parents; Felix and Praxada; brothers, Ed and Mike Leintz; and her sister, Clara Schaff.
