David Royster and the Rev. Darrell Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael A. Harmon, William L. Strong III, Gregory A. Harmon, Laurie C. Strong, Timmy L. Griffin and Gerald J. Lundy. Mrs. Spires was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Aug. 16. She was born May 21, 1936, in Cowpens. She was the daughter of the late John Henry Cothran and the late Willie Mae Lovett Cothran. She retired from American Yard Products after 24 years of service. Mrs. Spires was a member of Double Branch Baptist Church, WMU Mission Group, and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil A. Cothran and James E. Cothran. Having given a life filled with love she leaves behind her devoted, loving husband, Quitman Spires of Orangeburg; one son, Steve A. (Deborah) Harmon of Yemassee; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and William Strong Jr., of Neeses; two sisters, Brenda J. Griffin of Orangeburg, Lois Geraldine Chavis of Neeses; one brother, Bobby J. Cothran of Anderson; six grandchildren, Michael A. Harmon of Bluffton, Gregory A. Harmon of Columbia, Melissa L. Harmon of Ridgeland, Lee Strong of Neeses, Lacey Strong Berry of Sumter, and Curtis Strong of Neeses; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family members, Charles Spires, Linda Mulhern, Gene Spires and Elaine McAlhany.
