Helen Louise (Gibson) Hadaway, was born in Gilbert, Iowa, on February 23, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Richards) Gibson. Helen graduated from Gilbert High School in 1947. On February 15, 1949, she married Willard Hadaway at St. Peter & Paul Church. Helen was a mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, and helped her husband farm in northern Boone County. Helen Louise (Gibson) Hadaway, was born in Gilbert, Iowa, on February 23, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Richards) Gibson. Helen graduated from Gilbert High School in 1947. On February 15, 1949, she married Willard Hadaway at St. Peter & Paul Church. Helen was a mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, and helped her husband farm in northern Boone County. She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church and currently, the Church of the Sacred Heart and the Altar Society. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and canning her produce, camping, and wintering with Willard in Mercedes, Texas. The couple moved from the family farm to town in 1989. Helen also enjoyed spending time with her family especially during the Christmas season. She enjoyed reading, music, and cooking family dinners. In earlier years, Helen was a girls 4-H leader and was active in the Franklin School PTA. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard in 2011, a grandson Adam Newcomb, a sister Lois Haase, and a son-in-law Ron Franey.
