Description	:	Mrs. Helen Slade passed away Tuesday morning at the residence of Mrs. P. M. Scott, where she had gone to make her home for the winter. She had been feeling poorly for a few days but was getting along apparently as well as could be expected for one of her years. M. Scott, where she had gone to make her home for the winter. She had been feeling poorly for a few days but was getting along apparently as well as could be expected for one of her years. Tuesday morning she was stricken suddenly and passed away within a few minutes. Helen Lucinda Imson was born in New York state, May 2nd, 1844. While she was still very young the family moved to Wisconsin, locating first at Ripon and later at Sparta. There she grew to young womanhood and here she became the wife of Isaac Letson, on December 6, 1865. To this union five daughters and one son were born, most of whom with the husband and father preceded her to the beyond. Gertrude passed away in 1904, Mildred in 1905, Mabel in 1909, and Carrie in 1921. Mr. Letson died in August 1905. The family came to Nebraska and located in Albion, July 4, 1878, Mr. Letson being one of Albion's pioneer merchants. Here they shared the joys and the hardships of the early day with the other brave souls who had forged their way into the then comparative wilderness. September 19, 1910, she was married to George Slade and moved to California, where she made her home. Mr. Slade passed away in 1921 and she returned to Albion to make her home midst the old friends and association. Saturday she went to live with Mrs. P. M. Scott during the winter months at least. Mrs. Slade was one of the pioneer members of the Albion Congregational church and a splendid Christian woman. During her residence in California she belonged to the Mountain View Methodist church. She was a member also of the Albion Loyal Ladies. The surviving members of her family are: Mrs. Cora Hawks, of Tacoma, Washington, and Frank Letson of Hayes Spring. Besides these she leaves nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The funeral was held from the home Thursday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. H. Trickey, and interment made in Rose Hill cemetery. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – December 14, 1922)
