Jones, 86, formerly of Concordia, who died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at a Salina care center where she had been since June. She was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Beloit, to Frederick and Mary Ninemire Schaffer. She graduated from St. John's High School in Beloit and spent most of her life in Kansas. She moved to Shelley, Idaho, in 1996. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a former member of the auxiliary to the American Legion, both in Concordia. She and Armel Andy Jones were married May 7, 1932, in Beloit. He died July 5, 1981. Four grandchildren also preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, James Jones, Shelley, Idaho, LaVerne Jones, Rock Springs, Wyo., Daniel Jones, Rice, Gary Jones, Derby, and Jerry Jones, Moore, Okla.; and daughters, Mary Laird Anderson, Shelley, Idaho, Ruth Ann Gibbons, Littleton, Colo., Janet Amerson, Sandersville, Ga., and Judy Jones, Salina. Also surviving are a brother, Frederick Schaffer, Beloit; sisters, Ruth Brown, Delphos, Loretta Staab, Georgetown, Texas, Marie Pickett, Kansas City, Mo., and Jean Burnett, in Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery east of Concordia. Mrs. Jones will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia where an Altar Society rosary at 5 p.m. will be followed by a vigil service at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the van fund at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center, 1007 Johnstown, Salina, 67401.
