Hunt, pastor of the first Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant , was the officiating minister. Emma Jane Foss sang and Mrs.Leah Berry played the piano. Pallbearers were Scott Watts, Dale Watts, Wilbur Watts, Walter Barton, Emmet Barton and James Green. Burial was at *the Friends Cemetery. Helen Barton,daughter of Edwin and Eugenia Lawrence Barton, was born December 13, 1897, in Mt. Pleasant and departed from this life Friday evening, April 25, 1947 at the Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, after 10 days of illness. She spent all of her years in Henry County, Graduating from the Salem high school, attending Iowa Wesleyan college and becoming a teacher. On March 8, 1921, she married Otis L. Fenton. Mrs. Fenton is survived by her husband of Rock Island, IL , her parents , Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Barton of Salem, a son Edwin Howard Fenton of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Donna Jean of Salem, two sisters, Mrs. Margery Leveling, Salem and Mrs. Lois Lamm, Mt. Pleasant; two brothers Rex A and Max L Barton both of Salem. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Amvet auxiliary. being treasurer of the later at the time of her death.
