Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Adams Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Read More	Helen Marie Allee, of Ames, passed away on September 12, 2021 after celebrating life for 102 years. She was born on October 31, 1918 and grew up in the Des Moines, Iowa area. On January 24, 1941, she married Guy Elroy Allee of Chelsea, Iowa. Helen graduated from Greenfield High School in 1936 and The American Institute of Business in 1937. She did private secretarial work for several years at The B.F. Goodrich Co. in Des Moines, Iowa, General Electric Co. in Omaha, Nebraska, Draughn Business College in Abilene, Texas, and the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Iowa. After living in several states during and after Guy's World War II service, they settled in Burlington, Iowa in 1954. In 2005 they moved to Ames, Iowa where for the last 12 years she enjoyed life at Independence Village Senior Living (formerly The Waterford Assisted Living). Helen had many interesting hobbies. First was mountain hiking which she and Guy enjoyed for more than 30 years while traveling and hiking on six continents. Her other hobbies included photography, oil painting, reading, rock collecting, and poetry. A great joy to her was home and family. She is survived by her son-in-law, Michael Bowman of Ames; granddaughter, Kimberly (Gregory) Larson of Marion, Iowa; grandson, Brian (Colleen) Bowman of Oswego, Illinois; great-granddaughters: Alyssa (Cody) Osegard, Abigail Bowman, and Brianna Bowman; great-grandsons: Logan (Jacey) Larson and Hayden Bowman; great-great-grandsons: Kayden Larson and Cooper Osegard; and a niece Helen Marie Singleterry of Borger, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Allee; her daughter, Betty Bowman; and a great-grandson, Grady Larson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for Helen's family at www.adamssoderstrum.com.
