Even though she is out of our sight, she will remain forever in our hearts. Helen was one of seven children born to Domini and Matilda Romain on April 20, 1914 in Keuterville, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent, Norbert, Julius and her sister, Doreen. She is survived by her sisters Maxine and Ella Mae. On October 23, 1935 she married Mat J. Engel. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent, Norbert, Julius and her sister, Doreen. She is survived by her sisters Maxine and Ella Mae. On October 23, 1935 she married Mat J. Engel. They resided in Cottonwood, Idaho raising seven children until moving to Spokane in 1951 where an additional two more children were added to the family. She walked in God's presence, gently and graciously led by His Light and comforted by His promises. She was a stay at home mom, a tough 24 hour job, no pay and no day off. Her joy in living, giving and compassion flowed freely. She had tremendous love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made time for everyone with a very warm smile and quiet wisdom about her. She loved to garden and her insight was as treasured as the beauty of a rose. She touched the hearts of many and will forever remain a source of strength and inspiration. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mat and sons, Tom and Dick. Services will be held on Thursday, December 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 304 South Adams Road at 11:00a.m. Memorial remembrances can be made to Hospice of Spokane.
