Helen was born April 28, 1923, in Kearney County in a farmhouse north of Axtell to Robert and Tilda (Petersen) Biber. On Sept. 7, 1941, she married G. Warren Poole in Smith Center, Kan. He preceded her in death. Read More	Helen Maxine Poole, 89, of Axtell died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Bethany Home in Minden. Helen was born April 28, 1923, in Kearney County in a farmhouse north of Axtell to Robert and Tilda (Petersen) Biber. On Sept. 7, 1941, she married G. Warren Poole in Smith Center, Kan. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: sons, Dennis Poole and his wife, Connie, of Encampment, WY., Marshall Poole and his wife, Jeanie, of Axtell, NE. and Robert Poole and his wife, Carole, of Sunnyvale, CA.; grandchildren, Robin Blubaugh and her husband, Dee, of Phillipsburg, KS., Tom Poole of Martin, Tenn., Jocelyn Poole of Kearney, NE., Lauren Kolowski and her husband, David, of Loveland, CO., Matthew Poole and his wife, Allison, of San Diego, CA., Robert Poole and his wife, Erin, of San Jose, Calif., Aaron Poole and his wife, Kristine, of Concord, CA., and Timothy Poole and his wife, Laura, of Sunnyvale, CA.; and 12 great-grandchildren. Helen grew up northeast of Axtell, NE. Helen attended country school through the eighth grade. She attended high school in Kearney, NE. traveled to Kearney and stayed in a boarding house during the week and was home on the farm for the weekends. Helen graduated from Kearney (NE.) High School in 1940. Helen and her husband moved to Los Angeles, CA. during World War II, returned to the Midwest and lived in Kansas and Nebraska. Helen worked as a church custodian, sold Avon, was a church secretary and a keypunch operator and worked in an explosives factory while raising her family. Helen was an active member of First Presbyterian Church Axtell, NE. along with the ladies groups in the church. She enjoyed spending time with the Axtell (NE.) Senior Citizens and belonged to an extension club. Helen was gifted and had a way of finding a purpose where she could contribute and always helped others in numerous ways. She had her hands full working and raising three active boys and stayed positive throughout. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Eckloff and her husband, Morris; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Paul and Albertine, Frank and Althea and James Crowder; infant sister; and nephew, Larry Eckloff. Burial was Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Axtell, NE. Published in Kearney Hub on January 22, 2013
