Description	:	Not only was Helen Baumberger an avid gardener, growing flowers and vegetables, she was always busy. She was a church organist for 35 years in McIntosh, taught Sunday school for many years, and was active in community clubs. She was a church organist for 35 years in McIntosh, taught Sunday school for many years, and was active in community clubs. At one time, she held each of the offices in the Corson County Club and was chairman several times at the county level. She also worked at the bank in McIntosh for several years - in addition to raising six children and working on their ranch. In later years when she and her husband lived in Lemmon, she was an active volunteer of the Hospital Auxiliary and the Lemmon Senior Citizens, volunteered many hours at the Thrift Shop and sewed many quilts to sell. She also made quilts for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her pride was her family and their many activities and accomplishments. Helen died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, N.D, at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 18 days. She was born in Mission Hill, Yankton County, on June 13, 1915, to Norman and Marith (Carlson) Nelsen. She received her education at a rural school near Mission Hill and graduated from Yankton High School. She was confirmed in 1929 at Vangen Lutheran Church in Mission Hill. In November of 1934, Helen married William F. Baumberger in Sioux Falls. They moved to Presho for a short time and later moved to McIntosh in the mid 1930s. She lived in Corson County from then on. Helen and Bill farmed, raised cattle and did trucking for many local ranchers. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in McIntosh and more recently of Christ Lutheran Church in Morristown. She was a member of the Ladies Aid both in McIntosh and Morristown. Her husband William did in 1975 and Helen continued to live in their home in McIntosh. In December of 1985, she married Russell Hanson of Morristown and moved there where they resided for five years. Helen and Russell then moved to Lemon. He died in 2002 and Helen continued to live in her home. Surviving family members include her six children and their spouses, Coleen and Lyle Sander of Bowman, N.D., Allen Baumberger and Polly of Florence, Mont., Don Baumberger and Reo of Boise, Idaho, Rodney Baumberger and Sharon of Sturgis, Janet and Dan Marquardt of Black Hawk and Mark Baumberger and Sandy of Morristown; two stepchildren, Janice Tomhave of Watertown, Wis., and Ron Hanson of Rapid City; 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister of Loveland, Colo.; and one brother, Don Nelsen of La Mesa, Calif. Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Baumberger on May 27, 1975, and Russell Hanson on Feb. 16, 2002; three brothers, Curtis, Everett and Norman Nelsen; three sisters, Selma Handy, Berna Bjorium and Virginia Miller; and a grandson, Shelby Baumberger. Funeral services for Helen were held Wednesday, April 4, at Christ Lutheran Church in Morristown with Pastor Gerhardt Juergens officiating. Casketbearers were Randy and Wayne Sander, Larry, Kent and Jeff Baumberger, and Kevin and Shane Frazier. Burial was in the McIntosh Cemetery under the direction of Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home.
