Description	:	Helen Pearl Dyson was born Nov. 27, 1906 at Woonsocket, SD to Martin and Emma (Larson) Thompson. After her mother's death, she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Millie and Will Wackerow, near Mellette, SD. Her early education was at Brentford, SD and she later attended college in Minneapolis, MN. Read More	Helen Pearl Dyson was born Nov. 27, 1906 at Woonsocket, SD to Martin and Emma (Larson) Thompson. After her mother's death, she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Millie and Will Wackerow, near Mellette, SD. Her early education was at Brentford, SD and she later attended college in Minneapolis, MN. She married Thor W. Lovold of Minneapolis in 1925 and lived there, in Waterloo, IA, Fargo, ND and Barnesville, MN. After her husband's death she moved to Milwaukee, WI. She settled in the West River Country in 1944 to assist her father, Martin Thompson (previously of the Date, SD area) in a business enterprise. In 1945 she married James Dyson and lived on a ranch south of Haynes, ND. She owned and managed the Palace Hotel in Lemmon, the Bowdle Hotel, Bowdle, SD and operated the Hilltop Laundry in Lemmon for many years before retirement. She moved to Iowa City, IA in 1994 to live with a daughter. Helen entered the Lone Tree Health Care Center, Lone Tree, IA on June 28, 1995 and died there on August 6, 1995. Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Betty and Arthur Opsahl, Barnesville, MN; a daughter, Donna Dashner, Iowa City, IA; a son and daughter in law, James A. and Selda Dyson, Rapid City, SD; a sister, Viola Houghtaling, Doland, SD; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her parents; husband; son: John Lovold; son in law, Steve Dashner; grandson, Douglas Dashner; three brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
