Description	:	Helen P. Anderson, 87, a resident of Wenatchee for the past 40 years, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 14, 1997, at Colonial Vista Convalescent Center in Wenatchee. She was born May 5, 1909, to Charles and Nanie (Hagy) Kidwell in Spokane and grew up and began her education in Laurier. She graduated as valedictorian from Colville High School in 1927 and attended St. Lukes School of Nursing in Spokane. She was born May 5, 1909, to Charles and Nanie (Hagy) Kidwell in Spokane and grew up and began her education in Laurier. She graduated as valedictorian from Colville High School in 1927 and attended St. Lukes School of Nursing in Spokane. After receiving her registered nursing degree in 1931, she worked for a military hospital in Portland, Ore. On Aug. 15, 1935, she married Thor A. Anderson in Corvallis, Ore., and they made their home in Danville, Wash. In 1939, they moved to Republic, and she worked as the Public Health nurse until moving to Wenatchee in 1946. She was employed as a private duty nurse and an office nurse for a time and later the Chelan-Douglas Health District for 11 years, retiring in 1967. Mrs. Anderson was a member and served as Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Wenatchee, the First Presbyterian Church Edna Reid Circle, the Malo and West Wenatchee Grange and Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star and past matron, a charter member of the Apple Valley Good Sam Club, the Graduate Nurses Association and served on the RSVP and AARP boards. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, handiwork and her grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Glenn A. Anderson and his wife Monika of Manson; a daughter, Kaye Mackenzie and her husband Buck of East Wenatchee; one granddaughter, Jana Berschauer of San Diego, Calif.; four grandsons, Scot and Shae Berschauer, both of East Wenatchee, and Ramo and Vero Anderson, both of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thor, in 1989, three sisters and two brothers. Jones and Jones Funeral Directors of Wenatchee are in charge of arrangements.
