She was born March 10, 1917 to Mary Delight (Perry) Wells and Harley Willard Wells at Edenville, Michigan. She was married to Clair W. McKimmy Dec. 24, 1936. They traveled extensively across the United States in... Read More	Helen Victoria (Wells) McKimmy, age 95, died peacefully Sunday April 22 at Hope Village, Acme, Michigan. She was born March 10, 1917 to Mary Delight (Perry) Wells and Harley Willard Wells at Edenville, Michigan. She was married to Clair W. McKimmy Dec. 24, 1936. She graduated from the Midland County Normal and taught school in one room schools in Midland County. She retired as a social worker from the State of Michigan but if you asked what she did, she would answer that she was a church worker who also did social work. They traveled extensively across the United States in their motor home before and after retirement, often spending 4-6 weeks at a time visiting the parks and history of the United States. They spent winters in Florida near her 3 sisters until their health did not permit excursions. She was the second of four sisters, Mattie, Betty and Mildred, who remained close throughtout their adult years having bonded together to raise their brother, Harley, the youngest of the group. She is the last surviving member of her family. She lived on a farm near Beaverton, Michigan with Clair for 61 years before moving to a condo in Elk Rapids to be near their family, James A. and Lou Ann McKimmy, Jerry Lee and Anna McKimmy, and Mrs. Barbara (John) Morgan now of Farwell, Michigan. She was actively engaged in the farming of their land near Beaverton. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making the fashions of the day for her and her daughter Barbara. Christmas, Thanksgiving and all other holidays and family reunions were big events down on the farm. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Church of the Brethren near, Beaverton, where she participated in the local, District and Annual conferences of the Church of the Brethren. With a warm and engaging personality she served as a Deacon, teacher and many other positions in the Church family. Herr home was always open for the ladies social or the prayer meeting which meant so much to her. After the death of her husband she moved to Hope Village at Acme, Michigan where she became known as the leader of the Rummicube brigade. She seldom missed bingo, her Wii Bowling competition or the Bible study activities. She prayed daily that she would soon be with her Lord and her husband whom she missed dearly. She will be missed by her tree children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, and 49 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Ralph and Jan McKimmy and sister-in-law Bonna Wells. With the international experiences, marriages and adoptions her family reunions resembled the memberships in the United Nations. Arrangements have been made for her funeral service by Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home of Gladwin/Beaverton, Mi. Internment will be in the Dale Cemetery, Beaverton, Michigan. The visitation will be at 11:00 am Sat. April 28. The service will begin at 1:00 pm. At the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to ACTS Christian Food Pantry, your church or Munson Hospice. Gladwin County Record.
