Mrs. Newmand died on July 26, 2004 in Ainsdale, England, at the age of 9*3. She was born in Holtwood, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on December 15, 1910, the daughter of Thomas C. Woodrow and Florence Patton Woodrow. She graduated from the Jacob Tome Institute in 1924. During World War II, she worked at the U.S. Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Maryland. After the war, she worked for the Navy Department on the Pacific island of Guam, From guam she went to England in 1953 to work for the U.S. Air Force. In Englan, she met and married Denis Newman who survives her. Besidrs her husband of 49 years, Mrs. Newmand is survived by three half-brothers: LCol Christian B. Walk, Jr, USAG Retired, Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, Harold Walk, Browley, California, and Glen Walk, Washington Boro, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bruce P. Woodrow and J. Emerson Woodrow. A funeral service for Helen Woodrow Newmand was conducted in Southport, England, on August 5, 2004. The graveside service preceding the interment of her cremated remains in Harmony Chapel Cemetery will be conducted by The Reverend Gus Feather, pastor of the Star Prebyterian Church of Star, North Carolina. The Reverend Feather is the husband of Nancy Feather, a niece of Helen Woodrow Newmand and the daughter of Elsa R. Woodrow, Ephrata, Pennsylvania and the late J. Emerson Woodrow, Harmony Chapel Cemetery is on Doctor Jack Road, a short distance west of its intersection with Liberty Grove Road.
