Died at the home of her son, Albert Hornung, in the Windhorst neighborhood last Thursday morning, Mrs. Helena Hornung, aged 70 years, 6 months and 26 days. Hers was a painless death. She was sitting in a rocking chair and death crept upon her so suddenly and yet so easily that those in the room with her did not know when the end came. Mrs. Hornung was born in Baden, Germany, and came to this country when a young woman. She was married to Christian Hornung, at Cincinnati, and thirty-three years ago came to this country and settled near Windhorst, where her husband died in 1899. The funeral was preached by Rev. Bogner Sunday morning at 10 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Hornung was one of Ford county's pioneers, having settled with her husband and family near Windhorst thirty-three years ago this spring. She leaves to mourn her loss, three sons, Albert, Andrew and Ed. and two daughters, Mrs. W.C. Torline, and Mrs. O.W. Boedecker and many grandchildren and a host of friends.
