Description	:	Helena Emma Bruhn was born on February 17, 1906, to Otto and Martha (Giermann) Ohm. She was reborn into the Kingdom of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the same year. She reconfirmed her baptismal covenant with her Lord through the rite of Confirmation in 1919 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. On November 29, 1925, she married Leo Bruhn at St. Matthew’s. God blessed the marriage with a son, Dale and a daughter, Corinne. They farmed for many years in Soldier Township near Ricketts, until 1965. They then moved to Manning, where they managed the Manning... Read More	Helena Emma Bruhn was born on February 17, 1906, to Otto and Martha (Giermann) Ohm. She was reborn into the Kingdom of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the same year. She reconfirmed her baptismal covenant with her Lord through the rite of Confirmation in 1919 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. On November 29, 1925, she married Leo Bruhn at St. Matthew’s. God blessed the marriage with a son, Dale and a daughter, Corinne. They farmed for many years in Soldier Township near Ricketts, until 1965. They then moved to Manning, where they managed the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. They retired at the end of the year 1974, moving to Mapleton on January 1, 1975. Leo passed away October 20, 1989. She was presently a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Mapleton. She faithfully and willingly served her Lord being active in such capacities as organist for 50 years, serving as Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township and at St. Luke’s Ricketts, where she was a charter member. She was Superintendent and guided the many church educational programs: she was past President of the LWML, and a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Braille Transcription Committee, who along with many volunteers transcribed, packaged and sent Sunday School material for the blind all over the world. The Library of Congress Braille Board awarded her a diamond pin for her many years of service. Throughout the years she enjoyed crocheting for her family as well as 72 quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Helena is survived by her son, Dale, of Mapleton and her daughter, Corinne and her husband, Robert Friedrichsen of Marshfield, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Hulda Buenger of Aurelia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Kathy. Helena went to sleep at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 25 days. She is awaiting the great resurrection.
