Mrs. Mary Underberg, 526 North Clark Street, at 5 o'clock this morning. She had been ill for six weeks, having been cared for at the St. Anthony Hospital for five days of that time. She was returned to the home of her daughter on Aug. 21. Her age was eighty- seven years. The body is being returned at 7 o’clock this evening from the Luft Funeral Home to Mrs. Underberg’s residence. to rest there until the time of the services. Funeral rites are to be held Thursday morning. Services at 8 o'clock a t SS. Peter and Paul s Church here will be followed by requiem m ass a t 9:30 a t Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. with six grandchildren serving as pallbearers, Walter, Lenus and Leo Schulte, Leo Tegels, Arthur Tegels and Ray Sanders. Mrs. Tegels was born Lena Neu- meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neumeyer, Aug. 15. 1854, at Poughkeepsie, NY. She subsequently lived in Illinois, from which state she came to Carroll county in 1872. Sept. 15, 1876, she was married at Mt. Carmel to Joe Tegels, who died forty-nine years ago. After leaving the farm thirty - three years ago. Mrs. Tegels moved into the town of Breda, where she resided until she came to Carroll Sept. 17, 1937, to make her home with Mrs. Underberg. Mrs. Tegels leaves many descendants, Including nine children, forty -four grand children and (Continued on Page 8) Tegels— (Continued from page 1) thirty – one great-grandchildren Her surviving children are: Henry Tegels, Emery, S D.; Mrs. Mary Underberg and Joe Tegels, Carroll; Mrs. Ben Schulte (Thresa), Mrs. William Schulte (Clara), and Mrs. Andrew Hauser (Lena), Breda; Matt Tegels, Amerit, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Schulte (Anna), Auburn, Andrew Tegels, Fonda. Another son, Fred Tegels, died in 1906. Mrs. Tegels was the last of a family of twelve children. She was a twin sister of the late Fred Neumeyer of Mt. Carmel. Mrs. Tegels was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Church here She belonged to the Christian Mother Sodalities of the Breda and Mt. Carmel parishes. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Carroll Times Herald September 12, 1941 All Children Here for Mrs. Tegels Funeral All of Mrs. Lena Tegels' nine children and all but one of her forty-four grandchildren were present at her funeral services which were held Thursday morn- ing. Mrs. Tegels died Tuesday morning at the age of eighty- seven years. Services at 8 o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul's Church here, with the Rev. L. Schenkelberg officiat- ing, were followed by requiem mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9:30. The mass was of- fered by the Rev. Father Urban. Out-of-town relatives at the rites included a son; Henry Tegels, and family of Spencer, S. D., an- other son, Matt Tegels, and a niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Ribordy, of Amiret, Minn., and the following nieces and nephews, Mrs. Homer Quenell, Mae Tegels, Mrs. Lawrence Tegels and Joe Tegels, of Marshall, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lip- pold of Graettinger, Iowa; Miss Elizabeth Tegels and Mrs. John Blake of Lamberton, Minn., and Dr. Matt Tegels of Windom, Minn. Other relatives from away in- cluded Mr. and Mrs. Leo Snyder and daughter of Okabena, Minn., Mrs. Francis Horn of Victor, Mr. and Mrs. George Schachtner of Fonda and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Conway and daughters of Omaha, There were also many relatives and frlenda from Breda, Mt. Carmel and other neighboring towns. The grandchild unable to be present at the services was Mrs. Albert Bailey of LaPorte, Minn. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
