M. August 9, 1955 at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Fred P. Unruh, February 14, 1896. Read More	Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 18, 1955: Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Helena (Voth) Unruh, daughter of Benjamin and Eva (Nightengale) Voth, was born October 23, 1876 in McPherson County, Kansas, and passed peacefully away in Bethel Home, Montezuma, Kansas at 8:30 P. M. August 9, 1955 at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Fred P. Unruh, February 14, 1896. This union was blessed with 8 children, five of which preceded her in death. Father passed away March 20, 1947. Two sons, Paul and Walter died in their infancy. Harley, her son, died May 30, 1940. Rhoda, Mrs. Ike Smith, her daughter died February 18, 1952. Herbert, her son died September 6, 1952. Surviving are: one son, Minister Claude Unruh, Durham, Kansas; two daughters, Esther, Mrs. Peter B. Koehn, Burns, Kansas; Marie, Mrs. Jesse Dirks, Scott City, Kansas; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and 4 brothers; Jacob Voth, Rockford, Illinois; Noah and Solomon Voth, Winton, California; and Henry Voth, Lake Tahoe, California. Our parents made their home in various places in Kansas and Colorado. First in McPherson and Marion Counties in Kansas. In 1913 they moved to a new irrigation project near Las Animas, Colorado, where they resided for five years. In 1918 they moved to Haskell County to be close to an established church, so that church services and Sunday school could be regularly attended. In 1925 they moved to McPherson County near Galva, Kansas. After father passed away Mother stayed with her children a while, and in June of 1949 she became a resident of Bethel Home, Montezuma, Kansas, where pleasant surroundings, good friends, and the good care of the workers at Bethel Home made life very pleasant for her in her declining years. We as the family are very thankful for this nice home and the good care mother could enjoy while there, especially during her days of suffering and finally her passing. Maay God bless all who made this possible for her. On May 19, 1955, Mother suffered a severe stroke which left her helpless. After this she gradually declined and on August 9 this beautiful life slowly faded and she fell asleep in Jesus at the setting of the sun, forever to be with her Lord whom she loved and served. We feel confident that mother has attained an everlasting Crown of Life, for at the age of 17 she felt her need of salvation. After repenting of her sins and upon the confession of her faith in the atonement of Christ, she was baptized by Minister Daniel Holdeman in May 1874 and she became a member of The Church of God in Christ; to this faith she was true to the end. In her Christian experience, mother was often tested and tried. Many sorrows also being her lot, such as the loss of her children and also of father. But God in His mercy and love kept her so she could bear the burdens of her days. She would often long for greater faith and strength to carry on for her Lord. She was much concerned for her children and grandchildren praying much for them and admonishing us to live for the Lord. She had an experience about a year ago in which she felt so lonely and left out of this world, also her mistakes in life loomed so large before her, so she took it to the Lord in prayer, casting herself into His arms of mercy, saying in her prayer "Lord I have nothing to pay for my sin and loss, You have paid it all, so help me." Upon this a great consolation and peace filled her soul. After she had her stroke she was exceptionally friendly and kind to those who visited her. She also especially admonished us as a family to be faithful to God and take life seriously so that we could all meet in heaven some day. A Prayer By Our Mother For Her Children and Grandchildren "Oh, may God bless my children dear, That are living in this world yet here; That they may have a mind To do God's will and be so kind. That they may feel that it's just here, That they their life for heaven prepare." "Oh, God I pray that thou wilt give, That such a life they here may live. That once we all together be, Where no more parting ere will be And praise and adore Thy Holy Name Where it will ever be the same, With joy and bliss and happiness, Oh Lord; Help us all to this. Amen." -The Family Funeral services were held Sunday morning August 14, 1955 at the Logan Church. Minister John Becker had the opening remarks with prayer.
