Description	:	Mrs. Helena Fitzler died at her home in Creighton, May 20 of blood poison a the age of 71 years, 9 months and 3 days. Helena Smith was born in Germany, August 18, 1833. She came to America in 1868, settling at Peru, Ill, where she was married to Wiget Fitzler during the same year. Eight children were born to them, the eldest of whom died in infancy. Her husband died in 1888. For the past fourteen years she has made her home in Creighton and vicinity, making many friends to whom she was always known as "Grandma Fitzler". She leaves... Read More	Mrs. Helena Fitzler died at her home in Creighton, May 20 of blood poison a the age of 71 years, 9 months and 3 days. Helena Smith was born in Germany, August 18, 1833. She came to America in 1868, settling at Peru, Ill, where she was married to Wiget Fitzler during the same year. Eight children were born to them, the eldest of whom died in infancy. Her husband died in 1888. For the past fourteen years she has made her home in Creighton and vicinity, making many friends to whom she was always known as "Grandma Fitzler". She leaves six daughters and one son to mourn her loss, all of whom were with her at the last; Mrs. Batedorf of Mendota, Ill,, Mrs. Schubert of Manson, Iowa and Mrs. John of Hosper, Iowa are daughters from away and Mrs. John Huigens, Mrs. Joe Bloom and Mrs. Peter Richling reside on farms west of Creighton, son, John, has made his home with her and to him the loss will fall most heavily, having been her almost constant companion and comfort the past six years. The funeral was held from St. Ludgerus Catholic Church, Sunday, Father Windolph officiating, a large concourse of friends being present and followed the remains to their last resting place. ...The Creighton News 27 May 1904
