She had been in failing health for the past 5 years and for the past 15 months has been bedfast. She was born Feb. 23, 1887 at Homestead, Iowa. Her parents died when she was young and she spent her girlhood with her sister at Leigh. She was married on Nov. 16, 1905 in Iowa to Louis Newkirk. He died on Feb. 18, 1913.
