Description	:	Virginia was born December 22, 1911 in New London, Iowa to Elmer and Mildred (Carter) Reed. She graduated from Hamill High School in South Dakota and taught for a short time in South Dakota. February 14, 1938 she married Byron W. Thomas during a blizzard at the Woodward Methodist Church. Virginia attended Iowa State University. She was a member of Napier United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a Life Patron of the WCTU. Read More	Virginia was born December 22, 1911 in New London, Iowa to Elmer and Mildred (Carter) Reed. Stephens Auditorium and traveled to Hawaii and several European countries on trips sponsored by Farm Bureau. She worked very hard growing vegetables and fruits and canning them. Virginia raised chickens to eat and to sell the eggs for grocery money. She planted lots of trees and flowers around the farm and sewed all her families' clothes. Virginia baked angel food cakes from scratch for special occasions. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Her survivors include her daughter, Miriam (Bob) Stevenson; two grandsons, Rob (Stephanie) Stevenson and Roy (Courtney) Stevenson; five great-grandchildren, Lily Lynn and Avery Violet, Jacob Thomas, Benjamin Robert and Roy Reed, Jr.; four nieces, Louise Mackie, Marion Jones, Elizabeth (Ken) Hinkley and Patricia Crandall/Wanner; and one nephew, Ronald (Billie) Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ethelyn, brother, Gale; and niece, Bea (Briley) Thorpe.
