Description	:	Helmuth H. Denke was born May 13, 1923 on a farm–ranch near Creighton, South Dakota, the son of Henry and Esther (Eisenbraun) Denke. He grew up on the farm–ranch and attended school in that community. As a young man he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp working on many projects in western South Dakota. Helmuth was united in marriage to Marie Hamann on November 9, 1946 at Creighton, South Dakota. They made their home on a farm–ranch near the Cheyenne River ten miles north of Creighton. Denke was born May 13, 1923 on a farm–ranch near Creighton, South Dakota, the son of Henry and Esther (Eisenbraun) Denke. He grew up on the farm–ranch and attended school in that community. As a young man he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp working on many projects in western South Dakota. Helmuth was united in marriage to Marie Hamann on November 9, 1946 at Creighton, South Dakota. They made their home on a farm–ranch near the Cheyenne River ten miles north of Creighton. They owned and operated the ranch until 1994 when they moved into Wall. They continued to live in Wall until November 2003 when they moved to Rapid City where they have since resided. They enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona as well as traveling in their motor home through many states in the United States. Helmuth was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Creighton where he served as an elder. He served on the township board and was a member of the Good Sam's Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marie Denke of Rapid City; three sons, David Denke and his wife June of Casper, Wy. Charles Denke and his wife, Donna of Thornton, Colorado; Russell Denke of Chamberlain, SD; three daughters, Marcia Huether and her husband, Wayne of Interior; SD; Kathy Kidd of Thornton, Colorado; Julie Kaiser and her husband, Larry of Rapid City; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four brothers, Harold Denke and his wife, Hilda of Rapid City; Erhart Denke and his wife Alice of Sturgis; Julius Denke and his wife, Ruth of Rapid City; Eugene Denke and his wife Marge of Butler, Missouri; a sister, Clara Crose of Des Moines, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends. Helmuth was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Adolph John Denke. Helmuth died Tuesday afternoon March 9, 2004 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City. Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday March 12, 2004 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall. Funeral services for Helmuth H. Denke, age 80, of Rapid City, and formerly of Wall, were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 13, 2004 at the First Lutheran Church in Wall, with Vicar Monty Dell officiating. Interment was in the Wall Cemetery. A memorial is established.
