Description	:	Henderson F. Johns was born at Des Moines, Ia., July 2, 1861, and passed away at his home in Lincoln, Neb., November 19, 1930, at the age of 69 years. When but a lad he moved with his parents to Oakland, Ia., where he grew to manhood. Johns was born at Des Moines, Ia., July 2, 1861, and passed away at his home in Lincoln, Neb., November 19, 1930, at the age of 69 years. When but a lad he moved with his parents to Oakland, Ia., where he grew to manhood. He was very ambitious to secure an education, and after finishing the common schools, attended Simpson college and the University of Iowa, taking his degree in law from Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1891. In the fall of the same year he married Miss Grace Clark of Oakland, and moved at once to Woodbine, Ia. He soon built up a splendid practice which he maintained for 29 years. Then his health began to fail, and he was compelled to give up his practice and move to Lincoln with his family. Mr. Johns was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, having united with it when a child. He was always deeply interested in church and Sunday school work, and was for many years teacher of the young peoples' class in the Woodbine church. He was active also in public affairs and was once nominated for governor of Iowa on the prohibition ticket. Later he was nominated for attorney general. He always took a keen interest in everything that was for the betterment of society, whether of a civic, religious, or educational nature, and was looked upon as one of the foremost men of his community. He will be remembered by those who knew him best as a cultured, Christian gentleman, and an invaluable neighbor and friend. About a week ago he was striken with pneumonia, and being in failing health, was unable to rally from the attack. Although his sufferings were extreme during his last few days, he maintained his customary cheerfulness and thoughtfulness toward his wife and children who attended him. Mr. Johns is survived by his wife, Grace; three sons, Carroll and Edward of Los Angeles, and Lawrence of Lincoln; three daughters, Mrs. Henderson and Dorothy of Lincoln, and Mrs Lloyd Guyett of Woodbine, Ia.; and one sister, Mrs. Angie Gillespie of Oakland, Ia. The funeral was held at Woodbine, for so many years the home of the family, The many exquisite floral offerings indicated something of the high esteem in which Mr Johns and his family were and are held, not only in their old home town, but in their new home as well.
