Read More	Provided by Kent Pauling #47438725 -"County's Oldest Woman Dies at 95 Friday Nite Had Been Resident of Lyon County Since 1882 Mrs. Henirika [Henereka] Dammann, 95, died Friday at about midnight, at her home In Grant township. So far as is known Mrs. Dammann was the oldest living resident of the county and she had been a resident of Grant, township with the exception of a couple; of years spent in George, since 1882. Mrs. Dammann had been in failing health for the past several years - and had been really sick for about two years. Funeral services are to be held at Sibley Monday with burial at that place. Mrs. Dammann was born in Freeport, Illinois on September 15, 1861. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hindt. She was married to Henry Dammann in 1881 and they came to Lyon County and settled on a Grant township farm - and Mrs. Dammann owned that property until the time of her death. The Dammanns had ten children. Two of these children have died - Mrs. Bertha Landwehr and Clarence. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Dora Lyon, Elk Point; Gilbert who farms in Grant township; Mrs. Louise Meyers, Holland, Minn.; Albert of Woodstock, Minn.; Carl of Froude, Saskatchewan, Canada; William, farming in Grant township; Mrs. Ella Locker, George; Harry, farming in Wheeler township. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Ella Martens, now living at Ashton. Mrs. Martens is 93 years of age. Long Prominent in Area Mrs. Dammann has been well known and highly respected in eastern Lyon County. She and her husband were prominent farm people and prospered. Following Mr. Dammann's death, 27 years ago, Mrs. Dammann moved to George where she lived for a couple of years and then moved back to the farm, where she spent the remainder of her time. Mrs. Dammann was one of nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. William Hindt. Three died as children - Sophia, Henry and William. The other five all came to Lyon county - in the early eighties. They were Fred and Charles Hindt (the father of H. H. Hindt, Charles Hindt, and Mrs. Floyd M. Casjens of Rock Rapids) and Mrs. Tillie Protextor, Mrs. Mar y Watterman and Mrs. Ella Martens. Funeral Services The funeral will be held Monday afternoon. Services will be at 1 p.m. at the home and then at 1:30 at the Lutheran church in Sibley. The Rev. Mr. Reemts will conduct the services and burial will be made in the Sibley cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Folkerts, Jake Dykstra, George Baumann, Ted Helbult, Albert Blockwitz and Will Martens.
