The last services in Mrs. McNerney's memory was a short service at the home of her daughter in Portis. Rev. Thompson, her former pastor, had charge of the services. Standley, Mr. Hosea Langley, Mr. Ned Grammon and Mr. Forrest Applegate., Mr. Med Grammon and Mr.. Cleo Moss. Mrs. McNerney was laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery beside her husband, Stewart McNerney and her children. Henrietta Isalina Duncan was born near Bellefontaine, Ohio, February 20, 1859 and passed to the home not made with hands at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.E. Wineinger, August 22, 1922, at the age of 63 years, six months and two days. She moved with her parents to Monmouth, Illinois, where they lived until she was seventeen years old. Here she began her higher education at Monmouth Academy. They then moved to Coin, IA, where she completed her college education at Amity College, College Springs, Iowa, and taught three terms of school. On March 18, 1884, she was married to Stewart McNerney, at Coin, iowa, where they made their home until 1887 when they came to Osborne County, Kansas to live on the farm where they resided until her husband's death eighteen years ago and where her only son, James, now lives. In 1908 Mrs. McNerney, with her three daughters, moved to Lucas where she lived until two years ago, since which time she had been with her four children. Eight children came to bless this union, Dennis Stewart, Linns Stewart, and twin infant sons preceded their mother to the heavenly home. Mrs. McNerney became a christian at an early age, uniting with the United Presbyterian church at seventeen. When she came to Kansas she united with the United Brethren church but later changed her membership to the Missionary Baptist church in which she was a faithful, earnest worker until her death. Wherever she went she allied herself with the church and its work. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. in the work of which she took a zealous and active interest. Mrs. McNerney leaves to mourn her death, four children, one son, and three daughters, seven grandchildren, three brothers and a host of friends. Her three brothers are R.M. Duncan, Hume, MO, S.S. Duncan, McMeneiole, Oregon, and W.R. Duncan, Hamilton, Montana. Her four children are Anna McNerney, Kansas City, James McNerney, Cheyenne, Lena Wineinger, Portis, and Eldora Hinerman, McPherson. Her four children and one brother were with her to administer to her and love her during her last hours. She was a conscientious, active christian, a real friend to all, a sincere sister, a wonderful, loving sacrificing mother. She was a woman of high ideals and she strove to the last to attain them. Her last wishes and thoughts were for her children and others. Rev. MacD. Thompson of Hays was called to officiate at her funeral and he adds this testimony of her quiet, but "A wonderful, sublime trust and a loving steadfastness tell the story of this life.
