She was born in Defiance, Ohio, on February 1, 1918, the daughter of the late C.E. and Margaret (Delarber) Masterson. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, a life member of the Defiance Hospital Auxiliary, Defiance Society of Artists, St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, the church Noodle Club, several bridge clubs, former member of Business and Professional Women and a volunteer at the Defiance Red Cross blood drives. She was the widow of Paul J. Kroeckel, who died... Read More	Henrietta M. Kroeckel, 96, of Defiance, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014, at Hillside County Living in Bryan, Ohio. She was born in Defiance, Ohio, on February 1, 1918, the daughter of the late C.E. and Margaret (Delarber) Masterson. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, a life member of the Defiance Hospital Auxiliary, Defiance Society of Artists, St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, the church Noodle Club, several bridge clubs, former member of Business and Professional Women and a volunteer at the Defiance Red Cross blood drives. She was the widow of Paul J. Kroeckel, who died Dec. 13, 1986, and Paul V. Gackel, who died Dec. 1, 1971. Henrietta retired in 1980 as assistant secretary at First Federal Savings and Loan. She will be missed by her son, Paul V. (Pat) Gackel Jr. of Bryan, Ohio. She is also survived by two grandchildren, JoAnna (Brian) Van Otterloo and Gina (Corey) Cassidy; and a great-granddaughter, Zoey Van Otterloo. She was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Masterson, Gene Masterson and C.A. Masterson; a sister, Gorgina Wanley; and a stepson, Ronald Kroeckel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Charles Ritter officiating. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 2, at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Suggested memorials are to the American Red Cross or the International Scleroderma Association. Condolences may be shared at www.lawsonroessner.com.
