He formerly lived in Marion where he was held in the highest esteem. He was brought here for burial. His wife, two sons, two brothers, George, of Seattle and Hiran [sic] S. of Sabula survive. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. S.R. Beatty conducted the services assisted by Rev. J.A. Smith. The music was a quartet, composed by members of the church. The pall bearers were members of the Brotherhood of engineers. The following obituary notice was read at the funeral services by Pastor Beatty. Henry Albert Heberling, son of John and Susanna Heberling was born in Ohio, November 17, 1851. Early in 1854 the family moved to Jackson county, Iowa, where they settled. As a growing boy he had a love for mechanics, and this induced him to enter the service of the C.M. & St. Paul Ry. In 1886 he became a fireman, and in four years was promoted to engineer, remaining in this department sixteen years. He was united in marriage to Miss Alma Durant, December 24, 1877. His family consists of two sons, Cassius R, and Ward A. both of Denver, Colorado. Mr. Heberling's health was not the best for several years, and about four years ago he left the railroad service and went to Santa Rosa, California, hoping thereby to improve his condition. But this was not to be. He gradually grew weaker, and finished his earthly career peacefully and triumphantly, October 6, 1910. Mr. Heberling became a member of the Marion Methodist church, December 8, 1888, under the pastorate of Dr. E.L. Miller, and lived and died in the Christian faith. As a man, Mr. Heberling was highly respected by all who knew him. He had a very successful career in his chosen line of work, was honored by the railway company, and greatly beloved by his fellow workmen. He was a very conscientious man, had a generous kind hearted nature; was a man of clean habits, one who attended to his business in a quiet, worthy and faithful way, so as to command universal respect.
