Mr. Dorman was born on August 9, 1932, in Belle Plaine, the son of Raymond and Clara Friedricks Dorman. He attended school in Belle Plaine. He served in Austria with the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He married Evelyn Danker on July 8, 1953, in Belle Plaine. They lived in the Iowa City area for the last 38 years. He worked with the Iowa City Community School District for 25 years before retirement. He was a member of the American Legion in Solon and the VFW Post No. 3949. Survivors include his wife; seven children, Connie (Robert) Swartzendruber, of Iowa City, Nancy (Rick) Shipman of Oskaloosa, Richard (Annelie) Dorman, of Iowa City, Diane (Bruce) Dolder, of Iowa City, Sandra Dorman of Oskaloosa, Donna (Martin) Frasher of Williamsburg, and Paul Dorman, of Iowa City; 11 grandchildren; and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Raymond Dorman.
