Description	:	Mr. Henry Anderson was born in Bern, Denmark, August 4, 1847 and passed away in Netawaka, Kansas, September 20, 1943 at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 16 days. At the age of 18 he came to America and lived for a while in Illinois and then moved to Iowa. He came to Netawaka in 1880, moving to the home in town in 1883. Read More	Mr. Henry Anderson was born in Bern, Denmark, August 4, 1847 and passed away in Netawaka, Kansas, September 20, 1943 at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 16 days. At the age of 18 he came to America and lived for a while in Illinois and then moved to Iowa. He came to Netawaka in 1880, moving to the home in town in 1883. He was married to Lydia Ann Cochren at Cambridge, Illinois, March 23, 1869. To this union was born six children, one boy and five girls. One child, Carrie, died at the age of nine months. Two little girls, Jennie, aged 7, and Nellie, aged 9, died of diphtheria in the same week in 1883. The one son, Chalcy, passed away May 19, 1935, at Dayton, Iowa. Those of the immediate family surviving are Mrs. Cora Wood of the home and Mrs. Mamie Poston of Long Beach, California. Also surviving are five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Anderson had lived in the home from which he passed away for 60 years. He and his devoted wife united with the Methodist Church in 1872. In the years of his health he was an untiring worker for the church. The past few years when he was more closely confined to his home, he was an inspiration to all who called to see him. He had absolute faith in God and in the righteousness of God's plans. Though he did not accumulate much of this world's goods, he was a success in every true sense of the word. This was proved in the devoted care and love bestowed upon him by his daughter, Mrs. Cora Wood. As one friend expressed it, "No king, with all his attendants, could have been better served." Of Henry Anderson it can be truly said with Paul, "He has fought a good fight; he has finished his course; he has kept his faith." Funeral services were conducted at the home and at the church he had so faithfully served for so many years, Wednesday afternoon, and he was tenderly laid to rest in the beautiful family lot in the Netawaka Cemetery. Rev. A.H. Christensen, now at Reserve, a former pastor at Netawaka and a close friend of the Anderson family, was present assisting the pastor, W.C. Green, in conducting the service.
