Description	:	HENRY A. LORDS Henry A. Lords was born January 16, 1842, in Van Wert County, Ohio. With the family, he came to Michigan when quite young, and soon after located in Wabash Co., Indiana. He enlisted in the service of the U. S. Army September 15, 1861, at the age of nineteen years, a Private in Co. A, Regiment 44, Indiana Volunteers. He reenlisted January 19, 1864, and served as Corporal of Co. A, Regiment 44 , Second Brigade, First Division, Corps 14, Army of the Cumberland. He was wounded in the battle of Shiloh.... Read More	HENRY A. LORDS Henry A. Lords was born January 16, 1842, in Van Wert County, Ohio. With the family, he came to Michigan when quite young, and soon after located in Wabash Co., Indiana. He enlisted in the service of the U. S. Army September 15, 1861, at the age of nineteen years, a Private in Co. A, Regiment 44, Indiana Volunteers. He reenlisted January 19, 1864, and served as Corporal of Co. A, Regiment 44 , Second Brigade, First Division, Corps 14, Army of the Cumberland. He was wounded in the battle of Shiloh. He was discharged September 14, 1865, after a busy service of four years with the exception of a loss of three days. On December 25, 1866, he was married to Mrs. Harriett McDowell at Camden, Michigan. He was baptized into Christ at Clear Lake, Indiana, July 29, 1880, and died at Detroit, Michigan in Boulevard Sanitarium, where he gone in charge of Dr. Bell, of Montgomery, to receive surgical aid for a distressing affliction, which gave him great agony during the past winter; departing this life while under the anesthetic, March 14, 1905, at about 1 o'clock p.m. He was brought to his home in the evening of March 15, at Hall's Corners, and the funeral occurred the 17th, at Clear Lake, Elder S. W. L. Scott preaching the sermon. A large crowd paid final tribute, the line of carriages extending nearly a mile in length. -- Coldwater, Michigan paper. HENRY A. LORDS Indiana's 44th Regiment Henry A. Lords, of Co. A, enrolled August 25, 1861 in Angola by Capt. Kinney as a Private; mustered in September 25, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Maj. Carpenter at age 19. He was 5 ft. 3.50 in. tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, and light hair. Born January 16, 1842 in Van Wert Co., Ohio, employed as a tanner, single, resident of Fremont P.O., in Steuben Co., Indiana. Mustered out at the end of the war September 14, 1865 in Nashville, Tennessee with rank of Corporal. Notes: Slightly wounded in face at Shiloh. Reenlisted January 1, 1864. On detached service Jan.- April 1865. Absent with leave June 20, 1865. Promoted Corporal August 1865. Married Harriet Smith McDowell 1866 in Camden, Michigan. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #287293 May 23, 1881. Resident of Fremont, Indiana, 1882-1893; of California, Michigan, 1899-1900; of Montgomery, Michigan, 1903-1904. Died in hospital in Detroit, Michigan, March 14, 1905; buried Teeters Cemetery, Lot 43, in Steuben Co., Indiana. Unnamed filed Widow's Pension Application to receive Widow's Pension Certificate #610196.
