Father of Neal and Merritt Brown. ____________________________________________ Nebraska City News-Press, Tuesday, September 12, 1950; Nebraska City, Nebraska: Death Comes To Henry Browne, 84 Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed for Henry Browne, resident here for 66 years, who died shortly before noon today at the Adams nursing home. Mr. Browne, 84 died of complications. He had been ill for three and one-half years. A former railroader, he operated an ice house on Sixth Street many years before retiring. He was born February 10, 1866 in Missouri, the son of George and Elizabeth Browne. On January 23, 1887, he was married here to Mildred Ricker, who passed away June 13, 1950. He was a member of the Free Methodist church. Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery here. Surviving Mr Browne are three daughters, Lillian Fitchie and Mrs. Earl Denniston, City; and Mrs. Ralph Marshall, Burbank, Calif.; four sons, Al, city; Jesse, Lincoln, Neal, Pickstown, S. Dak.; and Merritt, Las Vegas, Nev. Four sisters, Florence Thomas, Omaha; Mrs. Dave Browne, Grand Island; Mrs Alex McConnaughey, Peru; Mrs. Emil Anderson of California; two brothers, George, Weeping Water; and Lee, Idaho; twenty grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, also survive. The body was taken to the Peterson mortuary.
