Hanson was born June 4, 1917, the son of John and Clara (Hanson) Hanson, in Portland, where he attended country schools. He worked on the family farm and for area farmers. He is survived by his wife, Portland; sons, Merle (Bernadine), Minnetonka, Minn., and Lauren (Wanda), Portland; daughters, Mavis (Curtis) Lande, Grand Forks, Rosemary (Richard) Brown, Burnsville, Minn., and Nada (the Rev. Richard) Anderson, Elk River, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rose (John) Kaldor, Mayville, Irene Heskin, Larimore, N.D., Gladys Carlson, Duluth, Beulah Huntsinger, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Donna (Al) Paulson, St. Paul. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman; and a sister, Audrey Skarperud. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Valley Free Lutheran Church, Portland. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before services in the church. Burial: Aurdal Cemetery, Portland.
